چکیده

The dissipative nature of heat transfer relaxes thermal flows to an equilibrium state that is devoid temperature gradients. distance reach – the entrance length a consequence diffusion and mixing by convection. presence particles can modify due interphase turbulence modulation momentum coupling. In this work, Eulerian–Lagrangian simulations are utilized probe effect solids heterogeneity (e.g., clustering) on length. For moderately dense systems considered here, clustering leads factor 2–3 increase in length, as compared uncorrelated (perfectly mixed) distribution particles. observed found be primarily covariance between volume fraction fluctuations, referred fluid drift temperature. Using scaling arguments Gene Expression Programming, closure obtained for term one-dimensional averaged two-fluid equation shown accurate under wide range flow conditions.

Moderately dense gas quantum kinetic theory: Aspects of pair correlations

A recently formulated density corrected quantum Boltzmann equation emphasizes the need to explicitly include pair correlations and the conversion of kinetic energy to potential energy as important effects in the kinetic theory of moderately dense gases. This paper first considers an appropriate evolution equation for the pair correlations which includes their decay via interactions with other p...

Moderately dense gas quantum kinetic theory: Transport coefficient expressions

Expressions for the transport coefficients of a moderately dense gas are obtained, based on a recently derived density corrected quantum Boltzmann equation. Linearization of the equations determining the pair correlation and the ‘‘free’’ singlet density operators about local equilibrium is discussed first. The rate of change of the pair correlations is treated as dynamic effects for pairs of pa...

Effect of particle collisions in dense suspension flows.

We study nonlocal effects associated with particle collisions in dense suspension flows, in the context of the Affine Solvent Model, known to capture various aspects of the jamming transition. We show that an individual collision changes significantly the velocity field on a characteristic volume Ω_{c}∼1/δz that diverges as jamming is approached, where δz is the deficit in coordination number r...

Bayesian quantification of thermodynamic uncertainties in dense gas flows

A Bayesian inference methodology is developed for calibrating complex equations of state used in numerical fluid flow solvers. Precisely, the input parameters of three equations of state commonly used for modeling the thermodynamic behavior of so-called dense gas flows, – i.e. flows of gases characterized by high molecular weights and complex molecules, working in thermodynamic conditions close...
